This would be a 36 sportfish?
What are the thought of dooing it in Mid April?
How long would it take?
The answer depends in part on where in NJ you are going. If south
Jersey, the distance saved going offshore from Montauk Point is
substantial. If North Jersey, particularly in marginal weather, I'd
consider going via Long Island Sound and NY Harbor.
Mid April has a high probability of being cold and windy. The time
required depends entirely on weather, cruising speed of the boat, fuel
range, selected route, etc. This is not a trip to be taken lightly
at any time of year but April is particularly iffy in my opinion.
Regardless, you should be carrying an inspected life raft and a
registered 406 MHz EPIRB. Survival suits would be a good idea as well
since the water is very cold that time of year. Check your insurance
for how far offshore you are allowed to go.
