I see myself as the old guy with the wine.

Speaking of old guys ....

I just came home to a surprise.

Mrs.E. somehow got me a bottle of Samuel Adams Utopia for Valentine's
day.
Apparently it took quite a while to get.
Only 12000 bottles were produced. I have bottle number 3061.

Feel kinda cheap because I had just come back from CVS picking up a
card and
a stupid red Teddy Bear holding a lollipop or something for her.

Now, to plan the special occasion to try the beer. You drink it as if
it is
cognac, according to the directions. I don't want to open it until there
are enough people here to enjoy it.

Man, that's a big beer, meaning, it's high gravity, meaning it's HIGH
alcohol by volume!

Here's a write-up in Beer Advocate:

Those that have tried it say it is a unique experience. We'll see.
The bottle I have is from the 2007 batch.
They are planning to have another release this year (2009).

Here's a pic Mrs.E. took today when she picked it up. The guy on the
left is the local Sam Adams distributor's representative. The guy on
the right is the owner of the little "ma and pa" shop store who she
bought it from. It was a big deal for him.

If you want a nice, not expensive, wine to share with Mrs. E...try:

My wife discovered this at dinner during one of her business trips, and
bought a bottle for us upon her return. I'm about as far removed from a
wine expert as one can be, but I have to agree...the Rex Goliath merlot
is mighty fine wine. Nice label on the bottle, too.
