D'oh. These days you can buy a monochrome laser printer for under $200.
It prints better than an inkjet printer, and the carts can be anywhere
from $50 on up for a cart that prints thousands of copies.- Hide quoted text -

You can't print color pages on a $200 monochrome printer, but you CAN
on a $75 inkjet, photographic quality, too.
I have a Brother laser that is still on the first toner cart 2 years
later.
I have a photo quality inkjet in the closet but the few photos I print
end up being cheaper at the drug store on their printer than buying a
set of carts.
Brother makes first-class printers. The one my wife has in her home
office is at least five years old and gets a lot of use. Monochrome.
The cheap inkjets produce...cheap-looking output. For most users, that
doesn't matter much.
