Default Latching up to trailer

Only works if you can see it. My tow is a conversion van; the small rear
windows are too high up to see the ball and hitch.
I use a V shaped metal guide that mounts around the ball. It's about 12"
wide facing the coupler. I find it easy to get lined up that close so that
as I back up the coupler is guided towards the ball. You just have to
remember to pull forward an inch or so after making contact, so that the
coupler can be lowered over the ball and the pawl will slide down and under
the ball to be latched.

Sometimes there is a simple solution to a pain in the neck process.

When trying to align a car or truck to a trailer ball without an assistant
you can set up a mirror to watch the ball and hitch as you are backing up.
Look at the above pictures.
