Took the boat out for a test run after modifying the jet unit. The new
Marine Power nozzle works great. Much better steering. The changing of
impellers, sort of like changing props, gave me 1 mph better top speed and
300 less RPM to plane. Bad part was the failure of both bilge pumps. Left
the drain valve for the Sand Trap open, and pumped a couple hundred gallons
of water into the boat. One pump barely worked and the other pumped zilch.
Went back to the marina and pulled the boat out and drained and freshwater
washed the motor and bilge from the San Francisco Bay salt. A connector for
the Ground had a bad crimp and the ground for boat pumps was open. Fixed
that and relaunched. What a beautiful day on the bay. No fish caught, but
did see a 59" and a 65" sturgeon that were landed. Did not get any Bat Rays
or trash fish. The Mud Marlins are fun to pull on. Radio report of an
about 70# ray brought to the boat. Sunny and warm in the sun, but cool wind
of maybe 54 when running. Bay was flat like a table top. No swells,
ripples, no breeze. Clear and sunny. Supposed to rain tomorrow. I feel
for you who are snowed in. Well a little. ;)

YAY!!!

What the hell is a Mud Marlin?
