Gelcoat Repair
He's doing a very large area. It will take about a half gallon of
gelcoat. I think that is the reason he wants to have it computer matched
instead of matching it himself.
I will look up Don Casey.

tell this idiot to find another sucker. You can match the gell coat in a few

I am having a secition of non-skid re-gelcoated due to damage done by a
previous owner.
I have a guy ready to the work...but he needs to match the gelcoat using
a computer. Takes 7 - 10 days. I offered up a hatch on loan as a
"sample" but he says no...I will be without the hatch for 7-10 days.
Instead he wants to carve out a 1" chunk of gelcoat from the area to be
repaired. Says he'll patch that spot when he applied the new gelcoat.
The area is cosmetically challenged, but no deck problems. I just feel
odd agreeing to let the guy do this. Is this a normal requirement or not?
Anyone with experience care to comment?
