Looking at a boat book.. *wondering about the boats that go from

How far is that? *And does it cost lots of money to go through the canal?

Any of you world cruisers ever do this?

Tell all,, interested in learning.

its an easy run down from so cal, lots to see and some really nice
ports. *distance you can figure on a simple map.

IIRC the cost is around that qoted by slide.
I would say hitting the crack is easy but you would want some other
folks on the boat for the trip across. not so much for handeling as
for defence. the guys lock side will try to charge you
"tips" (Bribes), and other things (on ocasion out and out lercenry).so
having a couple folks who can do stuff while you navigate is a good
idea.

the horn would be fun but not realistic for a single hander unless you
spent a goodly bit of time making sure you are rounding at the correct
time. its a bit rough on the pointy end of patigonia.

While I've never been there I thought it was a requirement to have at
least two experienced line handlers and at least two mooring lines of
a specified length and that you could rent these at either end.

this is true. i would state who do you want aboard two line handelers
you dont know or a couple of hands you do know.
A knife to the back or having your equipment stolen is a pretty high
price to pay for getting a boat through the crack.
