It doesn't matter, a lobster is the only thing I've ever seen scare
him.
He won't go within 4 feet of the critter(s). I think he nudged one
in the
head with his nose once, and the spines got him. Ever since then,
he just
stands off and barks at it.
What does your GSD do when he hears thunder? My 110 lb GSD would
would try
and get under the bed when he heard thunder, firecrackers or other
loud
noises. He looked damn funny with his head under the bed and his
body,
from the neck to the tail, sticking out.
Currently we have a Beagle mutt male. Worst thunder storm in the
world
could go right over our house. He would just stand there.
I always save a bit for him when we're done... sweet revenge. g
Beagle's are interested in only one thing and that is eating. They
ignore
all other stimulus.

I don't' know.

My neighbor used to have beagles, and they did a good job of howling
all night.

Occasionally he'd take them rabbit hunting, so he said. Actually I
think he kept them around just to bug the neighborhood.

We actually have two Beagle mutts. A male and a bitch. We got the male
first in 2003. and the bitch a couple of years later. The male thought
we were doing him a favor bringing a young babe into the house for him
to hump all day and all night. After two days of the male trying to
hump the bitch he has never tried again. We never say the scene where
the bitch laid down the law but, ever since then the male has had to
deal with being a notch lower on the totem pole. I guess that's why he
chases the cat around the house so much.

Ours Beagle's spend their time in the backyard squirrel hunting.
They've only caught one in two years. And, they only bark when a
neighbor is mowing the lawn or when the wife's car is driving down the
street coming home.

You need a full-sized Maine coon cat to straight out those pooches.

Once the current cat dies we are done with cats.

Too bad. Maine coon cats are great pets.

Wife keeps talking about those Maine Coon cats... she wants something that
can stand up to the neighbours half dozen cats that are always in our back
yard.
Our 17 year old female is tiny, under 7 pounds, but she used to try to put
up a fight. Now she mostly sleeps or scolds the dog.
