Key quote:
"Some Congressional support has also dwindled because the automakers
closed plants in other states, like Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and
Delaware, and consolidated their operations closer to home.
Meanwhile, foreign auto companies have built plants across the
South..."
"It all feels excessive to some in Detroit. "I didn't know that some
really, really hate us," said Ms. Tompor of The Free Press."
I don't think we hate them. Just don't want them in our pockets and feel
insulted that they would even try. Makes them look like cheap thugs and
idiots. Especially since they haven't done anything in 30 years to avoid
this.
I don't hate them either - for cripes sake, I just bought a new
Lincoln MKZ for Mrs. Wave and I'm thinking of getting rid of my F-150
and going back to the F-250.
It's just tht they need to get their act together and giving them a
ton of money just ain't gonna cut it.
It's beyond me (which ain't too hard do) that Congress is even thinking of
throwing money at them. Maybe thinking is the operative word here, or
should I say *not* thinking.
In my mind Chapter 11 is the prudent way for them to prove themselves. I've
written my Congress folks on just where I stand. I hope other are doing the
same.
