I have narrowed my choice of tow vehicle down to Toyota Tacoma or
Nissan Frontier Crew Cab long bed. I will only get 4WD if it is a
Tacoma because my old Nissan 4WD was not too reliable and required a
lot of repairs to the hubs, a waste of money. Price differential
between the Toyota and Nissan is about $3000 with Nissan being
cheaper. The Toyota has better interior finish and my kids like it
better but thats a lot of money for a truck interior, its a TRUCK for
gods sake. However, the Toyota does come with tow package already and
rear sliding window while the Nissan does not. We could find no
difference in leg room in the rear seats between the Tacoma and
Frontier (we are all tall).
CarMax has a Crew cab longbed Frontier with 14000 miles for $18000.
Thoughts?
Sounds like you find a lot of faults with the Nissans.
I found my 1995 Pathfinder, over rated. It was good once it had a dozen
visits in the first 3 years and new tires, but a lot of hassle. It was
relatively good after that until recently retired. I replaced it with a
F150, would have been perfect too except for a loose screw on the overhead.
Gave it a twist and rattle gone. About 18,000 mi on it now.
