TEACHER ARRESTED

A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International
Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a
protractor, a set square, a slide rule, and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, the Attorney General said he believes the man is
a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who
has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.

'Al-Gebra is a problem for us,' the Attorney General said. 'They desire
solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search of
absolute value. They use secret code names like 'x' and 'y' and refer to
themselves as 'unknowns,' but we have determined they belong to a common
denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.

As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'There are 3 sides to every
triangle.''

When asked to comment on the arrest, President George Bush said, 'If God had
wanted us to have better Weapons of Math Instruction, He would have given us
more fingers............and toes.'

White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or
profound statement by the President.

Wow! I actually enjoyed a Cliffie post. First in a long, long time.

Can you tell us the Buffalo Theory of brain cell natural selection
again?

Whatever your politics, however you lean and however you feel about
the current administration, this report is interesting.

As tragic as the loss of any member of the US Armed Forces is,
consider the below statistics:
The annual fatalities, by any cause, of military members while
actively serving in the armed forces from 1980 through 2006:
1980 2,392 (Carter)

SNIP table of deaths...

2007 899 (George W)

Clinton years (1993-2000): 14,107 deaths
George W years (2001-2007): 7,932 deaths

Are you surprised when you look at these figures?

Not surprised one little bit, they are innacurate. Look at Table number
5 in the linked document, the Bush numbers have been changed from the
original (cited) Data.

Amusingly, table 5 has a footnote noting that distorted versions of that
table are circulating on the internet.

Yet again, Gummy sending out distortions because there are no 'Facts'
that suit him.
