...............The Russian patrol ship Neustrashimy, which left
Wednesday for the coast off Somalia, may help crack down on pirates, a
source in the Russian Baltic Fleet headquarters told Interfax-AVN on Friday.

And the Russian Navy's commander, Adm. Vladimir Vysotsky, told Interfax
that Russia plans to send combat ships to the Somali coast to fight piracy.

"We have such plans for the near future," he said. "However, Russian
ships will not be involved in any international operations. They will do
this job on their own."

Instead????

Wednesday off the coast of the coast of St. Pierre and Miquelon (A
French territory in the Gulf of St. Lawrence near Newfoundland,
Canada) a Danish ship carrying tanks and ammunition has been seized by
pirates.

A French naval ship Le Marsellaise has left Calais for the east coast
of North America, according to a Reuters report, and may be heading to
help crack down on the pirates.

France also says it may send other combat ships to fight such piracy.
But warned that French ships will not be involved in any
international operation; a clear warning to the USA not to interfere
in a situation which although the St. Pierre and Canadian waters are
close, is an an area not under the the jurisdiction of the United
States.

Admiral Le Pompous said that as an ally of Denmark and a co-member of
the European Economic Union, French ships will do the job on their
own.

Something about 'Sauce for the goose' ............... comes to mind?
