McCain, in a brilliant move, announced at 2:55pm that he was
suspending his campaign in order to return to Washington to
participate in the resolution of the current economic crisis. He has
also requested Bush to put together a bi-partisan leadership
committee to further a solution.

The reason, according to Bush, is because the rest of Congress is
getting tangled footed and time is running out.

He said it was time to put partisan politics aside and asked Obama
to join him in Washington, including delaying Friday night's debate
if the problem was not resolved.

Please note: He specifically said, "Delay Friday night's debate, if
necessary. Not cancel.

Clearly coldcocked Obama who started claiming it was all his idea,
at first, then seemed to change his mind as he spoke, claiming he
still wants to debate.


Reality Check: Obama called McCain this am and asked if McCain would
issue a joint release on the economic crisis.

McCain is tanking in the polls at the moment, possibly because he is
adrift is a sea of **** because of his idiotic statements about the
economy.

McCain hasn't been around for a Senate vote since early Spring. What
input is he going to give to those trying to resolve the problems? He
doesn't know anything about economics.

Obama claims to have called McCain this morning about a joint
statement. Big deal.

He didn't claim to propose suspending the campaigns. McCain did that
and it took Obama and his campaign committee by surprise.

But, more to the point, McCain did not suggest cancelling Friday's
debate as you erroniously stated in your original post.

He proposed delaying it, if necessary, if the economic issue being
debated in Washington DC was not resolved. He stated a goal of having
it done and in place by Monday morning.


There's no reason to delay or suspend the debates, other than the smell
of fear in McCain's campaign.




Don't you just love how the media is changing the slant, indeed the
story, hour by hour.

Now, Obama reportedly suggested returning to Wash DC first, at 8:30am.

Didn't happen, folks. McCain pulled a dirty, but effective move.

Obama's campaign staff, true to form is making things up in damage
control mode. Obama never said he suggested returning to DC in is
morning call to McCain.
