There *was* a heck of a lot of damage in Punta Gorda, including a fair
number of flattened buildings. I was there last weekend and every
other block in downtown is a parking lot where buildings once stood.
Many lost their roof and sustained so much water damage that they had
to be torn down.
The only thing I saw that was knocked down or had to be torn down were
some old buildings on or right off 41.
The Holiday Inn looked bad with a lot of windows gone, and I'm not
sure if they fixed that.
Considerable roof damage in the newer parts of town.
But my point was that saying it was "leveled" is ridiculous.
