When I was a young boy in grammar school in New Haven, I'd take the bus
with a couple of buddies on winter Saturdays to the "Y" downtown to mess
around in the pool, the gym, and on the b'ball courts. It was a great
place in those days, might still be.


That "Y" is where I took the basic Scuba course in the middle of one winter
and got my original certification. Still have the card. I was 16 yo, and
the dive club giving the instructions was called "The Yankee Paddlers".
