@c65g2000hsa.googlegroups.com:

and it makes you far more alert.

3AM, Midwatch in 35' Endeavour ketch many, many miles off GA coast, course
000 on 80W headed for Charleston. Seas 3', wind 12 knots or so, steady
sailing half asleep watching radar and course. Sky clear as can be.

CLOSE off starboard beam:
WOOOOOOSSSSSHHHHHH!!!!!! KER-SPLASSSSSHHHHHH!!!!!!
SOMETHING BIG just jumped out of the Atlantic, splashed back in making a
tremendous noise, then total silence as I sat there SUPERcharged on
adrenaline in the pitch black under the billiant stars of the Milky
Way.....

Even being hit in the chest with a big flying fish from out in the
blackness is no comparison...You know he's harmless as soon as you see what
it is.....NOT THIS THING!

No need to wake my relief. There wouldn't be any sleep until NOON!

He could have bit the whole stern off the boat.....went through my mind
over and over....staring at the RADAR and trying to catch a glimpse of him
on the Garmin's charting sonar....

.....God I love it so.....(c;

You think you're in control.......but you're NOT!......EVER!
