Default Diesel smell

We've had good luck using a deodorizing candle to get rid of diesel smell.
They are hard to find, not a scented candle at all but sold (usually in
catalogues) as a deodorizing candle. Good luck.

Good reason to have the bilge painted perhaps before the spills happen
Thinking if you could also displace the diesel with another solvent such

as
acetone or something real volatile. But then what about the fumes and risk
of fire. Perhaps if the boat is on land it would be easier to clean the
bilge.
I would also think of painting it even now.

Is there anyway to remove or cover up, seal wood that has a diesel fuel
smell.

Thanks
