canals of Dade County.



Never heard of tilapia before we moved to Florida. At that time, they
seem to be available mostly in supermarket fish departments, as opposed
to free-standing fish markets, and their appeal seemed to be mostly to
Latinos recently arrived from Central and South America. Nowadays, of
course, the appeal of the fish has broadened.

I can't say I've ever eaten any. Never bought it at the market, never
ordered it at a restaurant. Not knowingly, anyway. Maybe it is because I
only knew of cichlids as aquarium fish.


It seems the perfect species for Lake Lanier.
