I have used heat guns and hot irons to remove paint and vanish with
positives results.

I came close to using the heat gun last fall to remove Cetol but I backed up
for fear of loosening the caulking between the teak slats. I used a scapers
and finished with 220 grits sand paper. After three coats of Cetol light
the result was good but could have been better. I would have had to sand
much deeper which I was not willing to do.

Later I learned that some people at the Club are using 3M Never Rust Soap
pads to remove Cetol and re-coat after. I do not know the exact procedure
with these pads but next before re-coating I’ll give it a try,
