I have read 2-5 years or so, because of the additives...
I heard the same thing, hence, I would not use oil older than 2 years.
They say you should not use Tires that are older than 6 years, no matter
how much tread you have on them.
Important
On the Iowa lake where I do my boating, everyone I know has fifty year
old trailer tires. Five miles a year is typical. Same people and boats
for fifty years.

Apples and oranges.. most folks use their tires...

If you are only driving VERY short distances at slow speeds, the tires
never heat up so the most that will happen is the tires will go flat.
If you trailer the boat on a highway, you would be wise to get new tires.
