Chotho, Lachesis and Atropos?

The Greek sailors say you never want to date these women.

Why?

Ahhh! It's been a while (40 years?) since I looked up the fates, though
Wiki spells the first CLotho.

The ancient Greeks were such an optimistic bunch.

I read this in an old ship design book.

The first wave heels the ship ~Clotho who spins the thread of your
life
Before you can recover the second wave knocks you on your beam ends
~Lachesis who measures the length of your life
And finaly, while knocked down the third wave causes you to capsize ~
Atropos who cuts off your thread of life

The Three sisters

As a surfer you always look for the three sisters. Anyone know how the
three sister form.
Why not the 4 brothers?
