......what is the fuel burn rate on your boat?
I have a Glastron GS209 powered by a single 4.3L 190 HP engine. I
tracked the fuel burn for several months and it generally calculated
out each time to be between 2.5 GPH and 3 GPH.
How about yours?
Are you averaging out the number of gallons burned over the hours of usage?
When going from one place to another on the Bay, I typically run at
around 23 knots. When I do, my electronic fuel burn "meter" says I'm
using about 4.9 gph. That's on a 21' center console with a 150 hp four
stroke Yamaha, two or three aboard, with a boat, engine, gear and fuel
weight of about 4100 pounds.
Usually, though, there's no reason to run even a full hour at that
speed, because most of the places I visit on the Bay aren't an hour
away. At a fast trolling speed, or harbor mavigation speed of about 6
mph, my GPH burn drops to about 1.5 gph.
I mark my engine hours at every fillup. The tank is topped off and I
note the gallons. I did that for several months to get a good
average. The run time included idling at dock to warm up, running up/
down the river to the Lake (no wake zone) and then cruise time on the
Lake, usually running anywhere from 25 to 35 mph and no WOT.
