This is my son's boat on the weed choked St Johns River (at Blue
Springs)
in Central Florida. Actually, the weeds aren't that bad this year, but
there is a lot of idle/no wake zones because of the manatees. I guess
that's OK though because all the alligators & manatees make for a bumpy
ride if you get going very fast.

Almost. The Silver Springs Run is a tributary of the St Johns. Upstream

Not quite.
The Silver Springs run exits into the Oklawaha River which ends at the
St. Johns north of Lake George.
However, this is not navigable as the Rodman Dam is near the end of
the Ocklawaha. It has no boating locks.
The dam was built as part of the Cross FL. Barge Canal boondoggle
canceled by, I think, Nixon. The enviros have been trying to get the
dam removed for years. Good thing I think, but they have been blocked
by bubbas with bassboats, as the reservoir has turned into a major
Bass fishery.

Yea, that's the official name. It's only a couple of miles long, less
than five anyway. Last time I was there, there was a troop of wild
monkeys on the banks, said to be descended from Tarzan movie escapees.
The Creature from the Black Lagoon was also filmed there.
You can actually go from Lake Dora (a little north of Orlando) thru
some canals and other lakes and the Oklawaha all the way to the boil
of Silver Springs. It's a 6-8 hr. round trip. The spring owners don't
like it and the famous glass bottomed boats will run you over.
I've heard it and all other spring outflows called runs all my life
here in FL.
There is another spring that does join the St.John's called Wekiwa
Springs about a half mile from my house. In the state park, IIRC, the
ouflow is called the Wekiwa run, it then becomes the Wekiva River and
goes to the St. John's. At least it used to, haven't been to the
spring in a long time.
