At 62 degrees, I wear a shorty suit while surfing. And that is about the
minimum temp I will use a shorty in. When I used to skin dive and scuba,

The only time I've ever been "cold" was on a ice dive while training
for ice rescue. The course was up at Lake Champlain and the ice was
about two foot thick. We went in with full dry suits, Gore-tex long
Johns, sweat shirt/pants and electric socks - still froze my ass off.
Man that was cold. However walking upside down under the ice more
than made up for it. :)
I can say that one other time, I was literally knocked out senseless
at Lake Alexander in Dayville, CT. Dive team drill/body recovery
drill thing. What none of us knew was there was a spring in the
deepest part of the lake and that was our search area - 30 feet under
tow we hit that spring and the temp dropped 20 degrees instantly.
I swear I almost passed out. :)
Yeh, but you grew up in cold weather. I grew up 10 blocks from San
Francisco Bay. 29 degrees was about the lowest I ever saw where I grew up.
Thinner blood.
