Complete Construction Drawings and scantlings for an authentic
viking-age boat from 900 A.D.

I realize my opinion doesn't count for much on this group right now, and I
apologize for over-posting, but a Viking boat is another type of simple boat
I've looked at and watched the construction of. It's easy to build, even
authenticly, and has the benefit of torqueing without falling apart. In
fact, our word 'starboard' (right side) comes from the word 'steer-board',
which was their version of a rudder and always on the right side of these
type of boats. (Or so I've been taught.)
It's a nice boat to start with, if your tastes go in that direction.
Best wishes to All,
Sandra
