Here in central Iowa, the local flood control/recreation lake is
twenty feet above normal. Lots of beaches and boat ramps are closed.

It was a zoo at Falls Lake in Raleigh NC on Saturday. *Boats
everywhere.

That's good news! It makes my plan to move to the Wake Forest area more
tenable. (Sure hope I used that word properly!)

The start of summer around here is usually busy with a high percentage of
newbees crowded around at the ramp. *It's entertaining if you don't let it
get to you. *But the high boat traffic made the lake a bit choppy. *After a
month or so traffic will drop off a bit. *I suspect that some number of
people get into boating and decide it's not really their cup of tea.

Most of my boating would be on weekdays. That's the great thing about
retirement.

Yea, the difference betyween weekdays and weekends is amazing on most
lakes. Sometimes I'll take a Friday or Monday off during the summer
and go then to avoid the crowds.
