Big difference is whether you're volunteering to be shot at.
In '68 I was running a tractor shoe press in at IH in Chicago.
My quencher was a south side black guy who had done a couple tours in
Viet Nam. *I was south side too but didn't travel in his circles.
Shortly after meeting him I noticed a nasty bullet scar on his arm and
asked if he was wounded in Viet Nam.
His answer was succinct. *
"No. *63rd and State Street."

No, most of the deaths in Iraq aren't people who have volunteered,
they are innocent victims.
