OH! Upon reflection, I remember that I sometimes have to unscrew the
antenna and clean the connection to get a good "read". The slight
corrosion also causes it to lose the satellites on a cloudy day or below
decks. That could be the original poster's problem.

I remember the Garmin 75 that came with the mirage 33 i used to crew on. We
had the original receipt from when the Po bought it. he paid around $1K
and the thing still worked perfectly... but now everyone wants a mapping
GPS.
I purchased my GPSMAP 60Cx in the fall for $379.00 less the $50. rebate and
it's fun to use with the Blue Chart and TOPO maps for my area.
