I prefer Florida's east coast.
Yes, and I understand why.

You do? Why is that, W'hine?
The east coast is more urban, more traffic, more crime and more like
the place the people were trying to get away from in the first place.

People come to Florida "to get away from it all", then they want to bring
it all here.

Never had any "crime" problems in all the years I've been visiting south
Florida. Don't spend a lot of time "driving around" when I am there. I do
love the beaches, the multi-cultural atmosphere, the art galleries, the
other cultural venues, the fishing, the fabulous restaurants and the
shopping between Boca and Miami Beach. SW area of Florida is just too dull
and distant for my taste, but I do understand why many go there to "get
away" from it all.

The last time I was in Miami Beach was for a week long conference. My
family flew in the day before the conference ended. We drove to Sanibel
Island the following day after the conference ended for a week long
vacation. I could not get out of Miami Beach fast enough. Not my kind of
city.

We had a blast on the Island and returned there a couple of years later.

Different strokes...I love Miami Beach, and many parts of Miami, too. We
stay a little north of the Beach itself, in Bal Harbour.
