Looks like things are improving.

ABC, NBC, Air America, CBS, CNN and CNBC, along with all the liberal
owned
newspapers have been trying their hardest to convince folks we are in a
recession in their attempt to make one happen.

Glad to see not everyone is buying into their crap.

funny that the secretary of the treasury and the fed chairman...both
liberal commie radicals appointed by bush...thought the economy was in
danger of recession as well.

stupid marxists.

Funnier still how certain right wing talk show personnel, making a
very handsome living by manipulating public opinion through the use of
broadcast media, are quick to condemn the "drive by media" for
attempting to influence public opinion. I mean really, how dare the
other voices in the media do such a thing?

Boils down to the same old standard. Propaganda with which one happens
to agree is useful, factual information offered solely in pursuit of
truth and in service to the public interests. Propaganda with which
one does *not* happen to agree is radical left or right wing bullcrap.

The liberal left wing media is doing their best to make sure we go into a
recession. Yep, they have our best interest at heart. ;-)

BTW: You recently had your shorts in a knot about folks posting here OT,
most especially OT Political.

You seem to be doing your share of it recently Chuck?

What gives? Which stance do you really believe in?- Hide quoted text -

I've decided that whatever this group of old codgers sitting around
the stove and trading insults is......it isn't a boating newsgroup.
That's what I believe. 75% of the participants here have no interest
in anything except trashing one another, and thereby ruining the group
as well.

I mostly post on topic, as that's what mostly interests me. But if the
same half dozen guys have nothing better to do than swap insults for
100 plus posts in every single thread that's the behavior that is
going to dictate the character of this group. We will indeed sink to
the lowest common denominator, and in rec.boats that's amazingly low.

By the way, economic booms and busts are not a political issue.
Lying about whether the economy is tanking (or not) might be
politically motivated- but print and broadcast media don't cause or
cure recessions any more than Presidents do.

The largest single expenditure for most people (with any money at all)
in the US is taxation to run the federal, state, and local
governments.
The efficiency with which the federal, state, and local governments
control expenses *can* influence how nimble the economy is and
therefore how quickly it can recover from a natural recessionary
cycle.
Right now we suck, big, big, big, big, big time in that department.
Look around and see who has controlled government spending for the
majority of the last several years if you want to find a culprit. But
it isn't going to be the press.
