Went to the NEBS today. In Boston, at the Convension center. The
facility is first rate in every category.
The show has mostly power boats. Not much in the way of sail, there are
marina and dealers of different
items there.
The crowd was very small, and this is the Sunday crowd.
No one was buying anything. As I made my way around the show, some of the
vendors told me the
boat business is terrible. Not surprising with the mortgage mess and all.
I looked at a couple of diesels; the Beta, Yanmar, Phasor, etc. Wow, are
these new diesels sweet.
The price is so high that no one is buying any of them. If past years
when I would go to a boat show,
the names of buyers would be posted on a board, etc... it was apparent
that the price is more than what
the average person would or will spend.
Interesting day.. though.
I went to the San Diego Boatshow a week or so ago and it was all power boats
except for half a dozen yachts.
Bleak old day, too, so walking along the outside exhibit wasn't a lot of
fun.
The chappie from the J-boat/Delphia stand was very pleasant to talk to,
though, and knew what he was talking about also.
Lots of Wakeboarding stuff and boats to bolt it to.
Hoges in WA
As in Western Australia, not Washington
