Anyway this is a 95 DT6. It runs fine at idle but when under a load it seems
to sputter. It will die at the lowest throttle setting, and seems the idle
screw is set correctly but the linkage is not? Also at full throttle it bogs
out. Smells rich to me and I plan on changing the plugs, and removing the
carb, disassembling it and giving it a good clean.
Anyone have any experience with this motor, carb?
Any tips?
I am a mechanic by trade but never messed with a little outboard.
Thanks in advance

Go ahead and clean the carb etc.
The throttle linkage and timing should be checked, they run hand in
hand, assuming it's like most other outboards.
There's probably someone here that knows exactly where the timing
marks are, if not, I can try to guide you. Generally, at full throttle
when the magneto plate is fully advanced, there are 2 marks that must
line up. Also, there should also be a mark on the carb lever/cam that
is snug up (no free play) when idling. It could be a mark or a point
on a roller? Since You're a mechanic, you can look for this type of
setting adjustment. Basically, as soon as start opening the throttle,
the timing starts to advance (mecanically) so it needs a reference
point.
Good Luck.
