Now, I didn't look closely at the photo, but it sure looked like an
assault or assault-looking rifle of 1960s to current manufacture, one
of the "ARs" or a facsimile of one.
They are referred to as black rifles. I'll leave it to the junior
googlers to figure out why.
They may be referred to as 'black rifles' by those who've never trained
with or used one. Until now, I'd never heard that description. Of course,
most of those I've been around who discuss it had some military
background.
