I don't know, I've got the pay version, because I use it with my sound
systems for instruments, etc. so I don't know if the free version
supports it, I'll try to find out.
free version supports it. there are also programs to compress flac and
convert to mp3.
Many bit torrent sites use flac, and bootlegs are also often distributed
as flac.
