what the hell you are getting, quality-wise.

The better groups all use the higher compression. The stuff I
download is mostly experimental/trance/ambient stuff that has never
seen a recording studio.

Most of it is junk - some of it is quite good.


I've got one that I downloaded quite a while ago. I think I mentioned it
before .... Sousa's "Stars and Stripes". It's an excellent performance and
was done at a very high bit rate. It sounds better than many of my CD's or
music DVD's on the Martin-Logan's. You can clearly hear every instrument in
the band.
