Two main reasons, I can see. The internet is based on open standards
defined in RFCs. Outlook Express is not standard compliant. The second
is HTML. HTML was never meant to be used for email, and it's the vector
for many virii, web-bugs, spammers and other malware. Never mind the
internal bugs still around after 10+ years in service.


And yet, many people use it for years with no problems whatsoever. Me, for
instance. I wonder if it's wrong to place all the blame for problems on just
one program, when in fact, many users have no clue about protecting their
computers, so OE or not, they're going to experience problems.
