The heir to my fortune and empire is apparently enamored of these toys.
Interested in feedback if you've got something like this. I think it's a
mistake and that a guy should have an actual stereo system, even if this
means getting rid of his roommate to make space in the dorm room. The
prince doesn't agree.

The 'kids' are hoked on the iPods or reasonable facimilie.
No point fighting it.

Some don't care, especially if they have to pay for it. Of my seven,
only one has an Ipod. She paid for it after she found her whining
about how she just "had" to have it meant just that.
Wife was bugging me about buying one son an MP3 player.
I looked around on the net and couldn't make heads or tails about
what to buy. Finally told her to shut up, give him a hundred bucks
and let him buy it himself, since he would know what he wanted.
A couple days later we found he already had what he wanted.
A 1 gig thing he got from Newegg for $12.95. Doubles as a thumb
drive, plugs into his car stereo, blah, blah.

My son has had one for a couple of years , and asked for a new model this
Christmas. Of course his mom ran right out and plopped down $400.00 + taxes
for it.
It was a lot cheaper back in the days of the old 45s.

Not sure about that. Most of the music kids have is pirated stuff.
