The USMC silent drill team is by far the finest precision marching group
I've ever had the pleasure of watching.

You've not seen the Army's? They also do a fine job.

Do they offer them a $25k incentive to join like the Army will be doing
starting in January with their recruits?

My son made a comment of how sloppy US Army personnel look compared to the
Marines. He noticed this on Parris Island and now at Camp Leonard Wood.

Here is the incentive package possible as of July, 2007:
************************************************** ********************************
ENLISTMENT BONUS ACTIVE DUTY ENLISTMENT BONUS

Qualified Active Duty recruits may be eligible for a combination of bonuses
up to $40,000.
ARMY RESERVE ENLISTMENT BONUSES

Qualified Army Reserve recruits may be eligible for a combination of
bonuses up to $20,000.
EDUCATION BONUSES

Active Duty and Army Reserve applicants may be rewarded for their civilian
educational experience.
ACTIVE DUTY EDUCATION BONUSES

Qualified applicants who enlist for two or more years in any Army Military
Occupational Specialty may receive one of the following bonuses for
civilian education:

* Bachelor's degree—$6,000
* Associate or two-year degree—$5,000
* High school graduates with 60 or more college semester hours—$4,000
* High school graduates with 30 to 59 college semester hours—$2,000
************************************************** ************************************

Yeah, you're probably right about the soldiers' appearance not quite up to
Marine standards. In the interest of group harmony, I won't go into any
comments soldiers may have about Marines.

Has our Marine noticed any photographers around?
