Update your TomTom software.

I did it yesterday and what a difference in performance.

No joke - I did the upgrade on the One I have and - get this - it
provides instant lock on satellites.

I'm absolutely serious - instant lock. As in full lock - ten
satellites.

I have no idea how they did it, but it boots faster and you get a
full
lock on position instantly.

It's also tracking much better and before, it wasn't bad at all.

They changed something and it's really for the better.

As in WAY better.

I updated and it indeed locks in faster. But now I have to remove
the
memory card (clicking on it so it dislodges) to turn the darn thing
on.
Once on, I then click it back into position. Not a big deal but
annoying.

I will be calling their support department tomorrow to see what the
fix
is.

Why do you have a memory card?

Because it came with one and will not operate without it.

What model do you have?

TomTom One, 3rd edition. It came in a light green box.

You must have the Tom Tom One Third Edition early model. Mine was the
Tom
Tom One Third Edition Upgrade. It had 48 favorites, No memory card, No
way
to add or edit custom POIs, No way to back up, but they did have a
Dunkin
Donut POI file you could download from their site. What a piece of ****!

Say what?

Man - you need to take another look - all that is doable from either
the machine or via TomTom Home (ver. 2).

Too late, I'm afraid. I'm going to have to settle for 500 or so waypoints
and unlimited sets of POIs that I can arrange, change, and update the way
I want. I can do all this with the 10+ year old Mapsource program that I
bought for my Garmin Emap, and Garmin's POI loader. Tom Tom might make
some fine machines but the one I bought was low end crap. I replaced it
with a much better machine for a few bucks more.

I guess it all depends on your needs. The TT One meets all mine and the
price was right.

I would not call it crap but a best buy meeting basic needs.

If yours came with a SD card you got something better than I did. I can't
understand why 2 items labled the same can be so different.
