Because they had enough sense to drill for oil in their back yard. Don't

It's phenomenally short-sighted to think drilling locally is a good idea,
it's not. Given the rapidly declining oil reserves world-wide it's FAR
BETTER to buy oil from overseas NOW and bleed them dry. Sure, you boost
their local economies, but that'll crash and burn HARD once their oil runs
out. By then we'll have engineered our own superior solutions and continue
to march forward.

There is mounting concern that many of the countries who sell us oil
but hate our guts (and there's a long list) may be stockpiling cash
for a financial assault on the American economy.

I remember the old guys (when I was little I was always the kid
hanging out with the old folks, listening to the stories) talking
about some famous Chineese leader that stated that they would
eventually take down the US without firing a shot. Someone said the
Nipponeese have been trying that for years, but they only wanted our
economy and were not influencial (economically) enough to do it,
although they have taken a good chunk. But you put Russia, China,
Chunks of South America, and most of the middle east together, have
control of more than enough resources (oil, money, manufactured
products, etc.) they could shut us down in 30 days.

Sun Tzu taught us about war. War is not always armies on the battlefield
it can and is businesses in the marketplace.
