I don't know how that little engine does what it does, but it
is truly
remarkable.
I have no need for any more power than what it delivers.
Mine's supposed to be 128 hp....more than anyone needs.
There's really only one IMPORTANT chore.....CHANGE THE OIL every
3000 miles and use ONLY the oil the truckers use....Velo from
Chevron or Rotella T from Shell. Mine's never had anything but
Rotella T in it since the banker who was its first owner got it
new....a testament to Rotella's good quality. It STILL uses no
oil in 3000 miles and doesn't smoke unless you floor it.
Don't let anyone feed you bull**** about synthetic oils and
extending the changes out a gazillion miles...It has nothing to
do with the oil....it has to do with CARBON CONTAMINATION and
UNBURNED FUEL diluting the oil...neither of which $12/quart oil
can cure. It's a DIESEL!
Always change the oil filter when you change the oil...no matter
what anyone says. Makes SURE they DRAIN THE OIL COOLER, too!
The lazy *******s will leave old oil in the oil cooler if you
don't watch 'em.
