Default MooR FasT, Does it really work?

Hi there,
I've come across this post:
http://gadgetsailinginspector.blogsp...moor-fast.html

"If you've ever cursed at your crewmen, your wife or even yourself for
not being able to hook a line at a mooring buoy, marina cleat, pile
mooring, etc, then you need this very ingenious gadget.
MooR FasTŪ threads a rope through a buoy ring or marina cleat up to 2
metres away from the safety of your deck and brings it back on board.
It will even scoop up rings and shackles that lie flat."

Q1:
Has anyone used this device?

Q2:
Does it really work?

Thanks.

This sort of gadget has been around for years and they do work after a
fashion but I agree with the person who categorised them as plastic junk.
The problem is that most people seem to think that because you moor from the
bow you must pick up the buoy from the bow. Our bow is quite high and we
are always short handed. So what you do is have a line long enough to reach
right aft. Lead it aft outside everything and get your crew to lie on the
deck at the lowest point even if it is quite far aft. He/she can then reach
the ring on the buoy and put the line through and then you go slow astern
while he/she walks forward with the rope end and hauls in the slack and
makes fast.- no problem. Do not get hooked on useless plastic gadgets.
