Find an Asian food store. They sell great squid!

He's not going to eat it (I think) so quality isn't an issue.

Quality is a big issue with bait. Better bait, better bites.

I've used cheap squid, and I've used expensive squid. Neither has ever
caught anything in the bay, unless it was dangling from a lure I was
trolling.

The rockcod here love squid tipped lures. And in SoCal whole squid are
referred to as Candy bait for White Sea Bass. And the fish prefer fresh or
good quality squid as well as any other bait fish of good quality over
dried, skanky bait.

Smelly bait doesn't always attract fish - lobstas/crabs and such
critters, yes including catfish.

Did someone mention 'lobsta'?
