You might be surprised. Friend had a 42' trawler that used about 1 gph
to go 8-10 knots. New boat is 55', but still only uses about 3 gph for
slightly higher speeds. There's not that much waste heat to use.


Last time I was in New York I got a peek at Forbes' yacht. Goes 25 on
150 GPH. Has a helocopter on the rear deck, the kind shaped like an egg.


THAT boat would have enough excess heat to boil some water, though
still (couldn't resist) less than their demands.

BTW, though I don't believe a small engine such as ours could
practically boil much water --that last degree to flash to steam is a
killer-- it seems a good idea to distill water drawn from the hot water
tank, gaining a good bit of the required BTUs for free.
