I store my kayaks inside the garage sideways on hangers, the canoes live
outside in a area between the garage and privacy fence with a tarp attached
to the the garage and fence covering over them to keep them out of direct
sunlight and dry (don't want them to get water on them as stuff tends to
freeze in Chicago during the winter and expansion would be bad)
Hanging from the ceiling, the kayaks take up very little space.
