Larry...need a bit of advice.
Just picked up an open aluminum boat with a Lowrance X85 sonar. Looks
like the thin wire leading to the transom transducer has been nicked
allowing it to spark to the metal bracket. What would be a good
product to apply to restore the wire to its insulating properties.
Note: the nicked part is just above the transducer...below the water
line.

The whole cable is contaminated, and probably conductive from the
contamination in the water it was in, especially if it were seawater.

Replace the transducer. They aren't that expensive. The impedances of
salt crystal transducers is VERY high....high voltage at almost no
current. So, ANY leakage in the system just eats its usefulness because
the leakage is a large part of the resistance/impedance of the crystal
transducer.
