I have said for years that the reason is due to 13 round semi-auto
hand guns.
With a revolver, you only have six - makes you concentrate.
The "chief" who taught me to shoot would only give me one round at a
time (1911). He said, think about this shot before you think about the
next one. Shoot every round like it was your last. Anyone who says you
can't hit anything with a .45 never had this guy teach you how to
shoot.
Dad taught me two things. Don't ever touch another mans weapon unless
you are going to fire it. If someone tells you their weapon is not
loaded, leave immediately, they are an idiot and should not be playing
with firearms

This led to an embarrassing event one Thanksgiving out
on Long Island with the inlaws. Uncle in law, old school sherriff type
is trying to get me to look at (handle) an old german lugar (sp?). I
admire it but won't take it from his hand or take from the counter.
After a couple of times he gives up and puts it away. Sure was a
pretty weapon, guess he probably still thinks I'm, well whatever he
thinks of a longhair that won't "play" with guns
