Staysail boom
If you have a nicely cut sail, a track system
without a boom will serve you better.
I think that's a bit close minded. Staysails often suffer from wind-
shadowing and a boom will keep them well in place and working, even
when efficiency drops. It will also keep the sail healthy longer. Best
shape MAY be achieved without the boom, but a headsail on a boom (like
the one used on a Alerion 28) is also cut for that specific usage and
it works very well. Adapting a current headsail for a boom
modification may not work as well.
