Don't know about that one but todays Bentatoys have rack and pinion,
which is quite nice.
The 35s5 has the giant destroyer wheel and the Cobra Rack and Pinion
steering system. After owner two boat with standard Edson cable
systems I can tell you that the difference at the helm is spectacular.
Every wheel system should be made this way. There's not a bit of play;
the smallest motion effects the rudder. Everyone loves it and even
newbies comment on it being so "sensitive."

Everything on Heart of Gold is fairly well thought out compared to
other vessels of her size. In her price range there is nothing that
can do what she can do. My friends, who race J24's and J35's call
Heart of Gold the "perfect boat." I wouldn't go that far, but for the
money she's certainly close. No other boat for around 60-70K can do
what she does.
FAST, fun to sail, comfortable, easy to maintain, sails well under
main alone, R&P steering, aft queen bunk, 11 opening hatches, large
swim platform, beautiful interior, shoal draft wing under 5 feet, big
dual level cockpit, below deck furling and many other features that
make her stand out such as the just about bullet proof chainplate
system. Under sail she's a complete joy.
