Passports are so much easier.
Not sure about this, but you may not need a passport to get into Canada,
but you may need one to get back into the USA. Rules seem to be changing.

At this time, reentry into the US by car/truck, a passport is not required.
It will be for SW. I called Homeland Insecurity, and they're not going
to let him back in the USA without a note from at least 10 of us.
